Worship and Majesty

So today we started our week off right by going to church with the folks at Gateway Community Church here in Window Rock.  We had a great time meeting some new people and talking to a couple of people that we’ll be working with this week.  A big thanks to all of those who welcomed us in!  After lunch we took off for Canyon de Chelly National Monument.  It was a short drive compared to yesterday to get there but it was definitely worth it!  We’re gearing up to start our service projects and work in the community tomorrow.  At that point, we’ll be painting at the Christian school here, working with senior citizens in the local community center, and then in the evening we’ll be working with Reservation youth at the Rez Refuge.  So here’s the run down from the student’s perspective:

We set out as a team with  a mission and the people that we would be helping out and working with were very welcoming. I and a group on the team went out to the playground and the kids were open  when we asked to join their basketball game.  -Mikhail Reiman

Last night was kinda a rough night because the first part of the night was too hot and the last part was too cold but overall it was workable. this morning wend to church with the locals and i was so shocked because the message tied into both the message on last sunday and the mission bridge sessions.       -Justin Hilkey

Today we traveled to Canyon de Chelly. To say that it was beautiful is such an understatement. It was more like breath-taking. One of the questions that I asked myself was how can someone, after seeing this, not believe in God. The Rebecca St. James song came to me as we were traveling along the rugged path, “God of wonders beyond our galaxy, You are holy.” The pictures  that you will see do not even capture the majesty of God’s masterpiece. The vivid colors of the rock and plants were nothing like we see in Ohio and it felt like we could see the sky for thousands of miles. We start actual work tomorrow so please keep our team in your prayers! – Janelle Linder (hi mom!)

  1. Is it just me, or has this blog and the comments made anyone else weepy? I love the fact that those of us still in Ohio can keep up with the team in Arizona. Thanks for taking time to update! Praying for you all. I love you Chris! The boys are already making welcome home signs for you…
    Be good to each other.

  2. I’m with you, Michelle! Weepy about every entry I read -but so much anticipating the next update! I continue to pray for all of you and I look forward to hearing details. I miss you, Joey! I even thought I heard you call my name today :) May God continue to bless you, strengthen you, and keep you in His care as you serve in His name.

So thankful for Chris King and his ministry, and the way the Lord is using him in our children’s lives….may he be blessed with his children’s lives the way he blesses ours and 10 more ! And to you Michelle, thank you for your sacrifice. Truly.
